Clear Fork

The Clear Fork project lies in Breathitt County, KY and over 2,000 ft of restoration and enhancement was conducted in 2007. This site was deemed a candidate of restoration due to logging activities that occurred close to 20 years ago that channelized the stream and eliminated fish and macroinvertebrate habitat.

The goals and objectives were to create habitat by use of natural channel design techniques to promote diversity for several species of macroinvertebrates and fish. Channel structures such as cross-vanes, and step-pools were implemented to provide grade control and create pools that remain during the drier months of the year.
